Jul 23, 2014 I'm just curious if anyone has used this lens on an A7? I just picked up this lens to try in my quest for good quality legacy primes in a pretty small package. This lens with the C/Y->E adapter is super small, I'd say the lens + adapter both are about the same size as the Minolta MD 50 1.7 with no adapter.

The Tessar 2.8/50 has always been a great lens, going back to the 50s when it was first introduced but most people don't respect it, I think largely because it's slower and cheaper than the Planar/Pancolar/Ultron types. Same applies with the 2.8/45, people ignore it and want the Planar 1.7/50.

Over the last week, I've been reading up on the Nikkor 45, and people seem to love it. I was wondering if anyone has done a direct comparison to the Zeiss 45mm in Contax mount, in regards to contrast and bokeh?

Here's some photos of my (ex) Contax Tessar 45/2.8 and Contax 139Q. This lens and camera were "designed by" Porshe, or at least "co-branded with" him. It makes a very small and easily-portable package. As mentioned by @JohnJ@, it's sharp in the central area, but fades towards the edges. In my experience, it's not as sharp as the CV Voigtlander.
