Antique Mason Jar Patent Nov 30th 1858 Embossed Vintage Clear Mason

This rustic antique half gallon sized Mason jar was rescued from a local auction. It is embossed "Mason's Patent 1858" on the front of the jar, and "Port" in script on the reverse of the jar. I believe this jar is listed as #1767 in the Red Book of Fruit Jars #10. This jar is an old shoulder seal style jar with a smooth lip.

Our "Mason's Patent Nov 30th 1858 CFJCo" is an extraordinary jar. The midget pint was made in a cornflower blue glass color with a ground lip and Mason shoulder seal. It has a zinc cap with a rubber seal. The reverse has a prominent "CFJCo" monogram representing the Consolidated Fruit Jar Company in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Lovely old 1/2-gallon Mason jar with the words Mason's Patent Nov 30th 1858 on the front. The bottom has the Roman numerals for 13. - XIII. Please see photos. The rim has roughness and a few small chips. The roughness is all of the way around the rim. Above the word Mason's are several scratches. There is a long scratch in the back of the jar.
