Free software that will convert a picture into a relief? Discussion I am looking for a software that will take an image file and convert it into a relief. Preferably so that the darker parts of the image cuts deeper into the relief.

Skrytex What is a good software for creating reliefs? I'm a bit lost at this point. I want to take a 2d image and convert it to a 3d relief. I'd be willing to put in preparation work, like converting it to a vector (or SVG?) or something, but I have no idea. There are a few problems.

Here are two solvtions I provide at moment. You can find a input "Parallel planes". Control points' movement will project onto the Parallel planes. By this method you can limit relief's direction. For example, input XY and YZ plane to "Parallel planes", the relief on vertical wall only happens on Y axis.
