Upon removing the bull bar, I used something similar to this to strip the rust and paint. It took me a couple evenings and I ended up getting about 90% of the original paint removed.

Much much better and stronger than powder coating. If you;re sand blasted clean you just need two coats, no primer. Get grey as the first coat then black as the top coat. Otherwise it's difficult to see bits you've missed on the top coat and they appear a bit dull. 27th April 2014, 12:28 PM #8.

Certainly, in the case of a job such as the bull bar, brushing is more likely to yield a better build in internal corners, a place where rusting often occurs. My use of hammer finish paint eliminated any possible blemish of brush strokes on the cured surface. Brushing paint is also a lot less expensive than aerosol.

Removing the bullbar to paint is probably a good idea. So will need to sort that out aswell. While im at it i will probable chop off the bottom part of the bullbar as it gets in the way on steep inclines. Cheers Rick. I took it to them and they started of by sand blasting the bar and then they put a zinc rust proofing under coat the then powder coated it in Night Sky black which is the colour of the new arb bars.
